Overview

The Gleamstone Engine brought forth a Golden Age of Rail. Industry boomed and technology advanced, particularly in the areas of locomotives. A vast, complex web of rails rapidly sprawled across the countryside, knitting together a chaotic mesh of iron connecting anything and everything together.

The Gilded Endeavour was a world class locomotive. Equipped with the latest and greatest technology to help it succeed in it’s primary objective. That objective was laying yet more track. The Gilded Endeavour was engineered to be a self sustaining, self fueling, track-laying machine. Designed to create entire railways between cities or even across country borders without stopping. The Gilded Endeavour was made to turn the world into a sea of rails.

On it’s maiden voyage however, disaster struck. The earth cried out and the heavens rumbled, cities sank and forests set ablaze. Laws of physics were defied and something peculiar crept into this world uninvited. Something peculiar which can now be felt in everything and everywhere, an ever present entity like reality’s second skin, there is no escaping it, there is no reasoning with it. This feeling became known as The Warp.

The Warp pervades all things, from mind to matter. Warp can change the environment as much as it can change a person. Twisted air, boiling colours and loud fog are just some examples of things that require description but defy explanation. Science fails us, the Gods are also affected by the Warp, the only unchanged entities in all of existence are the ever expanding train network and the trains that ride it. There is a safety in the rails, in the trains. For some reason they protect against the Warp.
